Viet Nam

Above is the alley behind the office building where USAID was located.

Pictured above and to the left is a Mosque across the street from the Peninsula hotel where I stayed when I first arrived in Saigon, VietNam as a Program Evaluation Officer with USAID.

The old opera house in downtown Saigon.

After a successful battle in which North VietNamese weapons and tanks were captured, the weapons were put on display for the public in the center of Saigon.

If I recall the tanks were Soviet Russian built, but outfitted with Chinese technology including optical gear for driving and for gun sights.

A view from the rooftop of Mot Duy Tang, where I lived for part of the time in Saigon. In addition to the little blue and yellow Renault taxi cabs, another ubiquitous car was the old black Citroen, like the one in the picture.
